March Competition Recap

After the International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation’s Virginia Open tournament in the beginning of March, our students were hungry for more and went out to compete in several more tournaments. Below are the results:

Miguel earned 3rd at the IBJJF Pan American championships at Masters 2 Purple Belt. This is the second most prestigious gi tournament for his age division and he handled all of his matches with poise.

Beatrice earned double gold at the IBJJF Indianapolis Open. She had three matches and two submissions, defeating a black belt world medalist and a black belt masters world champion.

Some of our guys got good reps in at the local Grappling Industries. Erik won his gi division. Ty placed second, and James battled in the absolute (open weight) division even though he was under 155 pounds.

Students are never required to compete, but the pressure of competition is a great way to test your progress and skills. We always support teammates who put themselves out there!
